Biography
Ben is a highly experienced resource management planner with a track record of leading and delivering a wide range of resource management outcomes in New Zealand and is currently based in our Northland office. He brings over 20 years of experience working in local government resource management, where he has held a range of policy manager, policy specialist and resource consent roles.
Ben’s particular expertise is in natural resource management policy, with a strong focus on coastal, freshwater and Māori policy. He is highly experienced in all facets of plan and policy development, including stakeholder and Māori engagement. A key achievement was leading the preparation of the Proposed Regional Plan for Northland – from review of the previous regional plans through to Environment Court appeals. He has also been involved in Treaty of Waitangi claim negotiations and Māori/council co-management arrangements.
Ben is a born and bred Northlander with a real passion for Northland’s people and environment.
