Challenge
The Sandy Flat Mine Site consists of several waste rock dumps, water storage ponds, a tailings storage facility, the plant site, and a flooded open cut pit.
The rehabilitation project is to improve the water quality downstream of the mine and to rehabilitate the site that is safe and acceptable to stakeholders. This will require the demolition of all process and non-process infrastructure to ground level and disposal of demolition waste either disposed offsite or in an onsite landfill/new landform.
Solution
SLR has been engaged to undertake a Concept Options Study and 25% Detailed Design of alternative remediation options.
The scope of works encompasses development of basic concepts, basic engineering designs, constructability and value workshops, cost estimates and optioneering to support the Department of Industry, Tourism and Trades with the selection of a preferred rehabilitation strategy.
